ADYAR

 

A small town near Chennai in Tamil Nadu where the headquarters of the Theosophical Society of India is located.

 

 

AGRA

 

The city lying on the banks of the river, Yamuna in Uttar Pradesh. Famous for its Taj Mahal, Sikandra Fort and the Pearl Mosque. It is also famous for its leather industries.

 

 

AHMEDABAD

 

Known for cotton textile industries. The commercial capital of Gujarat. Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat, is located nearby.

 

 

AJMER

 

It is in Rajasthan and is famous for the tomb of Khwaja Muin-ud-Din Chishti, a revered sufi saint. People throng the shrine on the occasion of the annual Urs-i-Mubarak.

 

 

ALIGARH

 

Aligarh Muslim University is located here. It is also famous for the manufacture of scissors, knives and locks etc.

 

 

ALLAHABAD

 

An important Hindu pilgrimage town. The confluence of three rivers, the Ganga, the Jamuna and the Saraswati occurs here.

KOLKATA

 

It is the capital of West Bengal and is the second largest city in India. It is an important industrial and commercial centre. Famous for its Victoria Memorial and Writers’ Buliding. Jute, leather, paper, Iron and pottery are some of the industries located here.

 

 

 

CALICUT

 

It is in Kerala and is famous for its rubber and coir industries.

It is in Assam and is the rainiest place in the world.

 

 

CHANDIGARH
