Our diet contains substances called proximal principles, which are essential to life and good health. A balanced diet contains all the necessary proximal principles in the right proportion to maintain health. Since all these cannot be found in a single food, we need to mix certain articles in our diet to obtain a ‘balanced diet.

 

Vitamins are found naturally in certain foods and their deficit can cause one of the deficiency diseases. Vitamins are both water-soluble and fat-soluble.
