Mohammad Rizwi, the mufti of Darululoom Ifta at Dargah Aala Hazrat has issued a fatwa against homosexuality and live-in relations, calling them anti-Islamic. He has said that the Shariyat had provisions to punish those indulging in such activities. The fatwa was issued by in response to a query by Akhlaq Noori on the issue.
The mufti has cited the teachings of the Quran as a premise for his fatwa. As per him, such acts could attract severe punishment like being burnt alive, being pushed from a high wall or being stoned publically.
Regarding live-in relations, the fatwa calls them un-Islamic and adds that the woman in a live-in relation cannot ask for the rights of a wife. Many clerics have backed him and the fatwa.
