The US Senate has voted 97-0 to confirm Srikanth Srinivasan’s appointment to a judgeship on the US Court of Appeals, the highest judicial appointment achieved by an Indo-American. It is a precursor to his eventual elevation to the Supreme Court before Prez Obama's second term.
Prez Obama called Sri a trailblazer who personified the best of America. Born in Chandigarh and raised in Kansas, Sri spent nearly two decades as a litigator before serving as Principal Deputy Solicitor General of the USA. Now he will serve with distinction on the federal bench. Sri will, in fact be the first South Asian American to serve as a circuit court judge in history. The DC Court of Appeals is considered to be the most important in the country after the Supreme Court.
Lawmakers across party lines welcomed Srinivasan's confirmation. The 47-year old’s sister Srinija Srinivasan is one of the Yahoo originals as employee #5.
