The cultural police is back again in the valley with online Ayatollahs in tow. An all-girl rock band Pragaash (light) in Kashmir had to quit because a grand mufti and some self-proclaimed guardian so Islamic morals view their music as "un-Islamic."
Though the grand mufti Bashir ud Din has a habit of issuing fatwa after fatwa, this time it’s a blatant lie in the name of religion. There's nothing to suggest that these teenagers were indulging in any vulgarity through their music nor is music un-Islamic. Despite Omar Abdullah's support for them, the girls have called it quits on their Facebook homepage, bowing to the rising pressure of the clergy.
