"Arise, Awake and Stop Not Till Your Goal Is Achieved"- Swami Vivekanand
India and the rest of the world celebrate Swami Vivekananda's 150th birth anniversary today. One of the most influential youth icons, who led a brief but momentous life of just 39 years, he had tremendous effect on most later thinkers and spiritualists. Swami Vivekananda was born on January 12, 1863, Kolkata as Narendra Nath Datta and was a key figure in introducing Vedanta and Yoga to the western world later. He learnt spirituality under the tutelage of his guru Swami Ramkrishna Paramhansa, in whose memory he set up the RK Mission.
His legendary Sisters and Brothers of America ….. speech at the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1890 had electrified the entire audience by introducing the global audience to Indian spirituality for the first time. In celebration of his contributions, his birthday is celebrated as the National Youth Day in India.
