Cyclone Hud Hud, after crossing the Andaman and Nicobar islands, is on its journey over the Bay of Bengal. Named after the Israeli national bird, ‘Hud Hud’ would move to north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts in the next few days. It would move west-northwestwards, intensify into a severe cyclone by Thursday and later a very severe cyclonic storm by Friday.
The area of landfall is likely to be between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur, expected to happen around Sunday noon. The peak wind speeds would be 130-140 km/hr going to 155 km/hr on Saturday and at landfall on Sunday. Hud Hud would bring heavy to very heavy rainfall over south Odisha coast with isolated extremely heavy falls from Saturday evening onwards.
