A massive typhoon Fitow has struck the Fujian province in China winds up to 151 kmph. More than 5 lakh people have been evacuated and fishing boats called back to shore. A red alert — the highest warning — has also been issued.
The typhoon cut power in Zhejiang province while rail services were suspended. At least 27 flights out of Wenzhou airport in Zhejiang were cancelled. There was torrential rainfall across the southeastern seaboard, with rainfall up to 29 centimeters as well as gusty winds.
