The Centre has okayed the inclusion of Bhiwani and Mahendragarh districts of Haryana and Bharatpur (Rajasthan) in the NCR (National Capital Region). This has been done with an eye on reducing the pressure on infrastructure and expanding the National Capital Region (NCR). The Inclusion of the three districts was approved at a meeting of the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB), headed by Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath. The board will later take up the proposals for including Jind and Karnal districts of Haryana too.
The NCR, till now, had included nine Haryana districts, five districts of Uttar Pradesh, Alwar in Rajasthan and the National Capital Territory (NCT). The NCRPB had also approved Rajasthan’s request for identification of Jaipur as a Counter-Magnet Area.
