Microsoft has started switching all Hotmail accounts to Outlook.com, its revamped e-mail service. The process upgrade is seamless and instant for Hotmail customers and everything including @hotmail.com e-mail address, password, contacts etc., will remain the same.
The popularity of Outlook.com is reflected in its 6 crore e-mail accounts in 6 months during its beta phase. Outlook.com is also designed to facilitate sending hundreds of photos and videos in a single e-mail message.
Launched in 1996 by the India-born Sabeer Bhatia, Hotmail was among the first Web-based email services. Later, he sold the service to Microsoft for $ 700 million.
