Celebrity chef Tarla Dalal, who died this week following a cardiac arrest will be cherished for her innovative yet simple, no-fuss vegetarian dishes. Her cookbooks were an integtral part of every bride's dowry. Her 'Cook it up with Tarla Dalal', aired on Sony, was popular for its lip-smacking episodes. Dalal co-hosted the TV show with model-actor Sudhanshu Pandey.

Tarla Dalal, 77, leaves behind a rich legacy of over 17,000 original recipes. Her cookbooks sold millions of copies, starting with her first book 'The Pleasures of Vegetarian Cooking' in 1974. She was also felicitated with the Padma Shri in 2007.
