Global online search giant Google is poised to replace passwords with physical USB keys, mobile phones and even jewelry that can act as a ‘key’ to enable access to accounts.
Basically, the physical key is a ‘smart chip’ embedded inside it. To log in, users need to simply place the tiny USB drive into their computer. Google is also working on wireless chips already built into some mobile phones, and even in jewellery.
The tiny USB key has been named YubiKey.
