Your Internet experience is all set to become four times faster thanks to a new device smaller than a pill. The smart chip would let you download the equivalent of a 2-hour, 4K ultra-HD movie or 40,000 songs in a matter of a few seconds. This is made possible by the device, which increases internet speed to 200-400 Gigabits per second (Gb/s) on very low power.
The breakthrough has been made by IBM Labs, which says that it can improve Big Data transfer between clouds and data centres to four times the currently achievable speed. Though the unnamed device is at a prototype stage, a previous version of this was licensed to Semtech Corp.
