It’s from the horse’s mouth and it can’t get more shameful than this !
Lance Armstrong, the fallen cycling idol, has admitted to using stimulants to win the Tour de France in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. He added that he could not have won the Tour de France seven times without the drugs.
Armstrong was earlier divested of all his titles after US Anti-Doping Agency report last October and banned for life in triathlons and other events. He also had to lose nearly all his sponsors and leave the Livestrong charity he had founded in 1997. The disgraced champion admitted that he had lied repeatedly for years that he was the ringleader of an elaborate doping scheme in a US Postal Service team that swept him to victory at the Tour de France time after time.
Winfrey got straight to the point, asking for yes-or-no to five questions.
Did Armstrong use banned substances? "Yes."
Did he use EPO? "Yes."
Did he do blood doping and transfusions? "Yes."
Did he use testosterone, cortisone and human growth hormone? "Yes."
Did he do it in all seven of his Tour wins? "Yes."
Meanwhile, the International Olympics Committee has taken back the cycling bronze he had won in the 2001 Olympics.
