Andrew Stephen "Andy" Roddick, a US professional tennis player and a former World No. 1 has announced his retirement from the sport.

Andy had become a Grand Slam singles champion after winning the title at the 2003 US Opne, defeating Juan Carlos Ferrero in the finals, which currently makes him the last US male player to win a grand slam singles event. Roddick has reached four other Grand Slam finals (Wimbeldon in 2004, 2005 and 2009, and the US Open in 2006), losing to Roger Federer every time.

On August 30, 2012, during the 2012 US Open, Roddick had announced his intention to retire after the current tournament.
