It's not Dhoni or Virat Kohli who are paid the most by BCCI annually. The fattest pay cheques from BCCI go to Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri, who get over Rs.6 crore a year each. Shastri is the BCCI's new team director while Gavaskar heads the IPL operations and iss paid Rs.2.37 crore a year as remuneration. This is in addition to the Rs.4 crore the duo get as commentators for all international matches involving India.
Shastri will remain the team director until the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Gavaskar's earnings as head of IPL operations is as per the Supreme Court order. Compare this to Dhoni and Kohli's earnings. The Indian skipper, who is on the Forbes' list of most valuable athletes, was paid Rs.2.59 crore for 35 international matches in the last one year. It includes a retainer fee of Rs.1 crore. Kohli earned a little more in the same period -- Rs.2.75 crore for 39 matches.
