With 64 medals, including 15 golds at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014, India finsihged 5th overall on the medals tally. India ended with 30 silver and 19 bronze, apart from the 15 top prizes.
Parupalli Kashyap provided a fitting climax to India's campaign in to a thunderous applause, bagging a gold in the men's singles badminton. The quest for a CWG hockey gold, though, was unfulfilled as the Indian men's team went down 0-4 to title holders Australia in the final. Likewise, the doubles combo of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa, had to do with a silver. Kashyap stole the limelight as he etched his name firmly in the history books by becoming the first Indian male shuttler to win a gold at the CG in 323 years.
England topped the overall list with 171 medals, followed by Australia (135), Canada (82) and hosts Scotland, which ended with 53 medals.
