Air India, India’s national carrier, has been ranked the world's third worst airline after China Airlines and TAM Airlines, says a report that monitors plane crashes occurring globally. Air India is ranked 58th among 60 airlines by Hamburg-based Jet Airliner Crash Data Evaluation Centre (JACDEC), which ranks the airlines on the basis of accidents and serious incidents in the past 30 years.
Finnair is the safest airline in the world, followed by Air New Zealand, Cathay Pacific and Emirates. No top ranked airline among top 9 had lost an aircraft or had a fatality during the 30-year period, but many had also not been in operation in this period.
Not even one American carrier was in the top 10 list, but none of them was in the bottom 10 either.
