The Lok Sabha poll this time promise to be an interesting spectacle as it will see a fight among candidates with peculiar names across India.
Innocent, the CPM candidate from Chalakkudy is neither innocent nor unknown in Kerala. His namesake Innocent is a famous film actor in Malayalam. In Tamil Nadu political circles, people joke saying that that Napolean, who has lost the icket this time, has lost the electoral battle to Stalin, M Karunanidhi's son. Napolean may contest as an independent in the LS polls this time.
In Karnataka, a youth Congress leader and NSUI president Joseph Stalin had tried for a Congress ticket, but could not succeed. The DMK has fielded CN Annadurai from Tiruvannamalai. Not the original CN Annadurai, who founded the DMK ! Its rival AIADMK has fielded K Kamaraj from Kallakurichi. K Kamaraj was a Congress leaders and its president during Nehru's time.
The BJP has fielded two 'masters' from Kerala. PC Mohanan Master will be contesting from Kannur while Narayan Master is contesting from the Muslim-dominated Ponnani. The AAP, the new kid on the block, has announced Victor Jha and Dr. Swami Vivekanand as candidates but only time will tell whether Victor really emerges victorious, true to his name.
In Telangana state, both the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections are likely to see many candidates with celebrity names like Stalin, Lenin, Tolstoy and even Naxal ! Interestingly, in the 2013 Meghalaya Assembly polls, two candidates with such names Hitler and Frankenstein had contested.
