Anjana Padmanabhan, a resident of Bangalore, has become the first winner of Indian Idol Junior, the musical reality show on SONY. Interestingly, she doesn't know Hindi, but her powerful, melodious rendition of Hindi songs helped her win the audience's hearts, and thus the first Indian Idol Junior title.
The ten-year-old has a voice and a tonal clarity way beyond her age. The jury always praised her rendition of Hindi songs without knowing the language and her unique style. Anjana was crowned the queen at a star-studded grand finale, where she received her award from Amitabh Bachchan. She took home a trophy, Rs.25 lakh and a Nissan Micra car. The contest had started with 86 kids and Anjana competed against three other finalists before taking her place in the spotlight.
