Janet Yellen is all set to take over as as the head of the US Federal Reserve becoming the first woman to lead the world’s most powerful central bank in its 100-year history. Yellen, dubbed by Prez Obama as one of the most respected American economists, is expected to be sworn in on February 1.
She will replace Ben Bernanke as the Chair of the Federal Reserve. As a Professor Emeritus at the University of California - Berkeley, she quickly rose to become a respected leader in economics and later also worked in the Federal Reserve for a decade as a governor, as the President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Currently, she is the Vice-Chair of the Fed.
