British PM David Cameron begins his official visit to India tomorrow. During the state visit, he will meet Dr. Manmohan Singh and discuss bilateral issues. Cameron, along with a high-power business delegation, will land in Mumbai, where he will visit Hindustan Unilever, attend a business interaction at the Taj, visit St Xaviers School and lay a wreath at the Police Memorial.
Cameron will meet the Indian PM on Feb 19 to discuss bilateral and global issues of common interest. He is also to call on President Pranab Mukherjee the same day. His visit comes soon after the visit by French President Francois Hollande to boost trade and bilateral relations. British retail cos are keen to improve their Indian presence. Executives from supermarket chain Tesco, Britain’s biggest retailer with already has a joint venture in India, are expected to accompany him.
Cameron is also expected to dispel misunderstandings about his government’s campaign to check immigration amid fears that Indian students could be deterred from applying to study in Britain.
