Prez Pranab Mukherjee, who has rejected 7 mercy petitions so far, has got another bunch of seven death row cases for consideration. One case involves a man on bail, who murdered five members of the rape victim's family.
Earlier, the president had rejected the mercy petitions of four belonging to sandalwood smuggler Veerappan's gang. They were given the death penalty by the apex court for killing 22 policemen in a landmine blast in Karnataka.
Several human rights groups including Amnesty International, have criticized the executions in India, calling them irreversible and inhumane.
