The national capital continues to witness street protests against the Delhi gangrape, with a modest gathering at Jantar Mantar demanding strong law against sexual offenders. Meanwhile, some people continued their fast demanding stringent punishment for the culprits involved in the gangrape.
Oil paintings with social messages and candle light vigils were also held. "We are sorry, we could not save you" -- a poster reads. Policemen were deployed at Jantar Mantar as well as at India Gate and Raisina Hill where violent protests had taken place last week.
Delhiites rang in 2013 in a subdued tone as it remained overwhelmed with shock over the gangrape. Connaught Place, the traditional hotspot for New Year festivities wore a deserted look at midnight as a small crowd turned up to celebrate with policemen outnumbering the revellers.
