Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray passed away on Saturday in Mumbai after prolonged illness. The 86-year-old, who founded the Shiv Sena in 1966 to fight for Maharashtrians’ rights, suffered from lungs and pancreatic ailments and was on life-support system for the last few days.
Balasaheb breathed his last at 3.30 pm on Saturday. His body will be taken by a vehicle from his residence 'Matoshree' to Sena Bhawan at 8 am, and will be kept their for an hour to enable his fans to pay their tributes. The cremation will be done at 6 pm at the Shivaji Park itself.
Several prominent politicians and film stars of all hues have expressed their sense of regret over his demise.
