Former IPS officer and Anna Hazare aide Kiran Bedi has joined the BJP and will be the party's face in the crucial Delhi elections next month. The surprise move came a day after the Aam Aadmi Party had charged the BJP's Delhi president Satish Upadhay's company with "conflict of interest" in providing faulty metres to Delhi in 2012.
Ms. Bedi, a former colleague of Arvind Kejriwal in Anna Hazare's anti-corruption movement, had met PM Modi before she came to the BJP headquarters to join the party. In a bid to counter Mr Kejriwal, she emphasised her "40 years of administrative experience" and the fact that she had given up her job when she was ``overlooked for promotion as Delhi's Police Commissioner'' and along with it gave up her official bungalow, car and attendants. " She had parted ways with Mr. Kejriwal after the latter decided to form the AAP and contest elections.
Besides her, former AAP leader Shazia Ilmi and former AAP MLA Vinod Kumar Binny have also joined the BJP.
