Telangana has become a half reality with the Lok Sabha passing a bill to divide the statae of Andhra Pradesh into Seemandhra and Telangana. The Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill, 2014 was okayed by a voice vote. Moving the Bill for debate and passage, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde assured a special financial package for Seemandhra, to address the grievances of the residual region.The bill will now go to the Rajya Sabha for consideration and pasasge by the house before it gets the final assent by the President of India.
Significantly, the live telecast by Lok Sabha TV was stopped for 90 minutes before its passage. Many members protested at the way it was passed in the din, calling it undemocratic a “black day” in the country’s democratic history.
