The Aam Aadmi Party, which had made a stellar debut by winning 28 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly, has staked a claim to form the government with outside Congress support. Arvind Kejriwal, its most visible public face, is to take the oath of office as the youngest Chief Minister of Delhi. At 45, he will be the youngest to assume the office of Delhi Chief Minister. The decision was taken at the Political Affairs Committee meeting which also discussed. the results of the referendum on the issue. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Ramleela Maidan.
Delhi Lt. Governor Najib Jung will now inform the President about AAP's decision and ask him to withdraw notification that had put the House in suspended animation.
Due to delay in forming the government in the national capital, Delhi was on the verge of President's Rule as the term of the last government ended on December 18.
