The BJP has stormed back into Rajasthan with a landslide mandate and has made a hat trick in Madhya Pradesh. It has also managed to retain its stronghold in Chhattisgarh. In Delhi it emerged as the single largest party, five short of a clear majority.

As Congress got a 0-4 rout in this round of Assembly elections, Sonia Gandhi has accepted the result “with humility”. In Rajasthan, BJP’s Vasundhara Raje led her party to a landslide victory, ousting the Congress government led by Ashok Gehlot. The BJP won 162 of the 200 seats in the Assembly while in Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan made a strong hat trick by winning 166 of the 230 seats.
In Chhattisgarh, the BJP won 49 seats, nine ahead of the Congress, ensuring a third consecutive victory for CM Raman Singh.
