Apple has finally opened its popular iTunes Store for users in India. The iTunes Store is offering a selected range of Indian music and movies for purchase in Indian rupees. While individual songs are available for Rs 12 each, albums are available at prices from Rs 72- Rs 150. Bollywood movies are also available for rent and purchase. Movies can be hired for Rs 80 to Rs 120 and purchased for Rs 190 to Rs 490. Some movies are available in standard as well as high definition modes.
Indian users can also buy international movies and music from the iTunes Store. The Indian movies and music collection on iTunes is currently limited and it is expected that Apple will widen its offering soon. The prices at the store are a little higher than are being offered by Flyte, Flipkart's iTunes-like store for digital music and ebooks. For example the Dabangg 2 album is available for Rs 72 on Flyte, whereas on iTunes, it is priced at Rs 96. On Flyte, individual song downloads are available for Rs 6, but on iTunes the price is about Rs 12.
