A K Hangal, the veteran “common man” of Bollywood is no more. The 95-year old had been unwell for long and suffered a back injury recently. Prior to it, several Bollywood biggies had offered monetary help to him keeping in view his circumstances in the last few months. He was given a tearful adieu in Mumbai this evening.
He served a jail term briefly during the freedom movement and was also associated with the Indian Progressive Theatre Association. He shared the screen space with Rajesh Khanna in several of his super hit movies. Inam Chacha was one of the most popular characters played by him. Among his notable films are Sholay, Namak Haraam, Mausam, Chitt Chor, Bawarchi, Shaukeen and Avtaar. RIP
