Even as the Venezueal economy is caught in problems, the country still churns out beauty, as proved by Maria Gabriela Isler's grabbing the country's third Miss Universe title in 6 years. Within minutes of her crowning in Moscow, President Nicolas Maduro congratulated her on Twitter, calling it a "triumph for Venezuela."

Born in Valencia, the 25-year-old Isler is an anchor for a channel. The 5-ft, 10-inch beauty beat finalists from Spain, Brazil, Ecuador and the Philippines to take the crown. Venezuela has won more major international beauty competitions than any other nation, including now seven Miss Universe titles, and its beauty queens rank alongside baseball players and oil as the country's biggest exports.
