Scotland is holding a historic referendum to decide whether it should leave its 307-year-old union with England to become independent. More than 42 lakh people will cast their ballot in the historic Scottish independence vote.
The contest is likely to be a photo-finish with the pro-independence Yes side gaining momentum in the final weeks of campaigning. If the Yes side prevails, First Minister Alex Salmond will realize the long-cherished dream of leading Scotland to independence after an alliance with England in 1707.
