An IIT Council Committee has recommended major changes in the IIT-JEE format. It has proposed an online test for scientific aptitude and innovative thinking ability. According to the recommendation, four lakh candidates will be shortlisted for taking the JEE based on an online test. It also suggests the 2-tier entrance test to continue in 2016.
The first stage is the JEE Main, which is the gateway to the B.Tech courses offered by the NITs and the IIITs. Beside this, the candidates who qualify the JEE Main would be eligible for the JEE Advanced 2016 entrance test which is a gateway for the B.Tech courses at the IITs.
