The situation in north coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh contiunes to be grim after the cyclone Hudhud. All efforts are on to bring back normalcy on the power supply front. Most parts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam plunged nto darkness as thousands of trees had been uprooted and fell on transmission lines causing power disruptions, following the the cyclonic storm. The cyclone, accompanied by gusty winds @ 180 kmph and heavy rains, left destruction behind in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts in coastal Andhra Pradesh.
PM Narendra Modi visited the port city and announced an interim assistance of Rs 1,000 crore for immediate relief. Visakhapatnam is limping back to normalcy with restoration of essential supplies and public transport services after it was battered by Cyclone Hudhud. Visakhapatnam has been reeling under a crisis as daily need items like milk, water and bread are not available and the communication network has collapsed due to the cyclonic devastation. Some traders are trying to exploit the situation by selling items at exorbitant prices. However, with the resumption of transportation to Visakhapatnam, vegetables and milk are now arriving in the city
