In a gruesome accident this morning, the Bangalore-Nanded Express caught fire near Anantpur in Andhra Pradesh, resulting in 26 deaths. Rescue operations are still on. The fire broke out at 3:30 a.m. in the B1 coach packed with 64 passengers at the Kothacheravu Railway Station. Most passengers were asleep when the fire broke out.
The cause of the fire in the B1 coach has been stated to be an electrical short-circuit in the air conditioning unit.
