The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C26) carrying the 1,425-kg Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System (IRNSS-1C) lifted off from Sriharikota at 1.32 a.m. The launch was supposed to be on October 10 but it had to be postponed over technical issues. The rocket gave off a golden brush of flames in the night sky and 20 minutes later, successfully placed the 1,425.4 kg weighing satellite in orbit.
Developed by India, IRNSS aims to provide accurate position information service for up to 1,500 km, its primary service area.
